Readings: Why Everyone Feels Like They’re Faking It

Great article on an important topic: “Impostor Syndrome.” It feels sensible on multiple levels:

– Understanding that impostor syndrome’s ubiquity, and focus as a “syndrome” puts the onus on the individual to make change rather than adequately considering changing the context (which seems particularly true when considering members of minority groups’ experiences).

– Recognizing that the feelings are nonetheless real and that the term recognizes something important (“depicting a texture of interior experience”) that should be retained, but with the emphasis shifted.
